Quote; verb: to repeat something written or said by another person exactly

I’m sorry, I tricked you into opening this blog. It’s not really about 5 motivational quotes that will change your life. Do you know why? Because different quotes resonate with different people. No one should state that they know what quotes will change your life, it’s YOUR life after all.

But please keep reading, there are some great quotes ahead!

The holiday season can be exciting, but it also can be overwhelming—especially if something has happened in your life recently (like a divorce or other big transition) and this holiday season is starting to cause you stress, anxiety or sadness.

So, will reading motivational quotes help you? Well, that is up to you. In the early stages of my divorce, I became obsessed with reading self-help books, listening to divorce podcasts and googling inspiring quotes.

A few of my favorite at the time were:

“Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life” J.K. Rowling

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” -Joseph Campbell

“Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be.” -Sonia Ricotti

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go, and then do it.” -Ann Landers

So, do motivational and inspirational quotes help?
Well, yes and no.

Yes, they work if you believe in them, are optimistic, and want and desire change.  But no, they won’t help you if you read them, scoff and say, “Well that is just stupid!”

Personally, empowering quotes help me. They have helped me when I was going through a divorce and at many other times in my life. This quote found me the day I lost my job:

“When things are bad, it’s the best time to reinvent yourself.” -George Lopez

When I was running my first marathon, at mile 19 when I was not sure if I was going to be able to finish, I saw a sign that said:

“One day you won’t be able to do this, today is not that day.” The woman holding that sign had no idea how it helped me cross that finish line.

The quotes I resonate with I repeat, I remember, I believe!

Different quotes can work for you at different times in your life. For example, let’s say you are trying to quit something that is toxic in your life—cigarettes or a poisonous relationship. Which one of these quotes would be better?

1. “Quitters never win, and winners never quit.”

2. “If you are going to quit, quit waiting for the right time.”

Motivational quotes can provide you with a quick and timely burst of positivity when you are in a funk. So, what about you, do you feel that motivational quotes inspire you? If so, comment below with one of your favorites.
